Any type of footage?

I'm new to fencing, just had my first lesson last wednesday, and was wondering if anyone could send me any type of fencing footage. I would gladly pay for it, as long as it doesnt cost and arm and a leg like some of the websites i have seen out there. Second generation copies would be fine.

A complete and utter rip off??? Interesting. As it is about the only place you can get the stuff it isn't that bad.

I've been satisfied with what I've seen from fencing footage. Besides, Mike Aufrichtig is a nice guy, and where else are you going to get your videos? Taped off TV? Only one of the Europeans who frequent this board can help you with that, anybody living in the US sure can't unless they're showing PFL reruns on the WB.

Hmm...

Maybe I should just make another batch of copies from the 2000 Olympics? Is there a call for that, or have people passed on copies to others? I know one person who wants a copy of the sabre tape. Anyone else interested in copies of the other events?

I have not heard back from my usual supplier from Sweden with regards to this year's WC. I do have prior WC footage. Foil, sabre, epee, etc.

Eric,

If you are interested, I might have some more footage in France that I can bring over after the holidays. I may even have the end of the Men's Team Foil Final...
• Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)
• To not recognize the power of the French grip is to be in denial

As for tapes from Europe...you hafta be careful because of the system change <Pal/Secam to NTSC1> Needa have one of those multisystem VCR's and such. Or a Euro VCR and a multisystem TV.

wirm,

You can find some video footage linked from the FIE web site - http://www.fie.ch/ (Only a sabre and an epee bout.)

You can also go to the "Fencing Sites" link at the top of this page and do a search for video and see what comes up in the Fencing Sites directory that I've put together.

Hope that helps,
Craig

No problem. Been through this several times. Previously, I got the duplicators to do the conversion for me. But last year, for the Olympics, I bought a multi-system player. This way, I can edit out some of the unnecessary commercials (which, incidentally, for the Olympics, was very little -- Eurosport did just stick a couple of cameras into the venue and taped about 1.5+ hours worth of material and didn't throw a single commercial in it; the only downside is that if they had bad transmission or no sound or decided to end transmission, well, that's that).

What I did do for the Olympics was consolidated all the gender-weapons together onto one tape, rather than have it spread out over several tapes. That made it more useful for those who were interested in men's epee, say, and didn't want to see women's foil.

Are you referring to this past World Championship's MFTeam, or some previous MFTeam? Also, anything else? I'd like to see some of those as well.

How good is the market for fencing footage?
My hub is a photog and is right now in the process of getting his own camera gear.
Both my kids fence and while they are not in the really big meets in Europe (or even the little meets in Europe) they do go to a lot of the US meets.
We have been talking about a way he can go to the meets and help offset expenses by shooting the finals of events.
Would well shot and edited footage sell??
What do you guys think?
