I am not even sure whether I am going to carry on

Well I did fencing many many years ago when I was young. Well now I am 35 mother of two, full time working but there is one thing missing in my life 'passion' when I tried to search my feelings about what i liked most i have come across this old friend 'fencing' So I joined the local club which I am going to start soon and found this web site. I am commited at the moment a bit scared as well but hey just wish me luck I can hang around.....

Welcome to the boards, and welcome back to the sport. What weapon(s) did you fence?

Have fun! It's even more fun as a grown-up.

Thank you all for your warm welcome. I used to fence foil. I will be starting a beginners course though and after 1.5 year I will be going to the gym on Friday to get my body used to some activities apart from rocking a baby. Really really excited lets see how it goes. I will keep you updated.

Welcome back to the sport! FYI -- at least in some of the local clubs here, its not uncommon to see father-son, or mother-daugther teams working out or competing in the clubs. II noted at a recent tournament just in the Foil competition there were 2 father-son duos competing, and one mother-daughter-son trio competing. So if your kids get of age (like 8 maybe.. depends upon the kid), get them started at the club too.

Welcome! I am a 45 year old mother of 2 that started fencing a month and a half ago. I love it! Why should the kids have all the fun? :-)

    Awww

Don't feel bad. I'm new to the area without any family around so I am also a bit uncomfortable about things. Just picture all your fellow fencers around the world who are also nervous (me included). You'll be fine, fit, and happier in no time -Monique

Good luck. If you need any help with your foil work, please feel free to post a query in the right sections on the boards. Just be sure to use the search function first, odds are the solution to any problems you may come across has already been discussed.

Hate to jump on the bandwagon here, but welcome back to the sport! Always good to see people return to the fold.
