Inq:
Since you have written at length about all sorts of subtopics in this thread, I wonder: Have you ever personally been medically treated in a country where "socialized medicine" is the norm, and been treated at such a facility? have you ever been outside of the USA for any extended period of time?

Just gauging the level of self-experience here.

Personally, I have been taken to a ER visit in Denmark when I was a 3yrold (my parents say their little boy suddenly lose conciousness and appear to become critically ill in a foreign country - fun!) and I have also been treated in Colorade and China.

Yes and no. I served six years in the US Army. Universal free medical care for all was the rule in that population. I have never been treated by a nationalized system abroad, though.

What's the relevance of the question?

I lived in Greece for a bit under three years. I did some travelling in Spain, France and Switzerland. ( And Andorra, if that counts. )
