Foil is definetly the most popular weapon here. Epee is second. Not many fence saber, but I enjoy it.

For kids: Foil.
For teens and up: Épée.

(My club has ~8 foilists aged cadet and up, about three of which are seniors.)

we only fence epee at our club and quite right too.

One of the clubs I fence/teach at is geared toward beginners and has a limited budget so foil is all they offer. I'll teach the other weapons to anyone that is interested, but I don't make it a point to do so every week. The other club does group lessons for all three weapons based on the desires of the majority. Most of the time it is foil, second is epee and not many people except me like sabre.

My main club is about 60% foil/40% epee. But it is a tiny club with only a few members. The second club I attend is about 80% foil and 15% epee with 5% saber. Though in the last month or so there have been more epee and saber people showing up for sessions and some senior members switching between.

Happy to see that Epee was leading on the poll though. Gotta love it!

I visited his club this last winter (June 2005) and can attest to that. They were treated to the spectacle of me fencing foil against real foilists. I also got my backside handed to me on a platter by Graham, 7-15. Upon reading that he is ranked 2nd in NZ the loss stung a little less.

We fence all three weapons in my club, however foil is definitely our strongest weapon. Although now that we share space with the local art school, we have filled out the ranks a little more.

Foil still rocks the club all night long though, like a pornstar trying to make a buck!

I instruct /coach at the University of Texas at Tyler; primarily, the club is foil; secondarily, epee; and thirdly, sabre. (Most of the students are undergrads and relatively new to fencing. This is the second year that the Club is functioning as a recreational sport club.)

Foil here, by far. Then epee, then sabre. Breakdown would probably be something like 70%/25%/5%.

Foil is most popular at our club simply because we have a tone of beginning fencers being trained... most of the old timers have moved on to Sabre

strongest is certainly foil for beginners and the advanced, then epee for the few strange ones who show up every once in awhile, and saber for the wild teenagers

In terms of sheer numbers? Epee. Even the foilists fence epee much of the time. Then sabre, then foil. Two years ago, it was foil, sabre, epee.

In terms of enthusiasm? Sabre. We're usually fencing long after the others have gotten tired and gone home. Somehow out epeeists and foilists just don't seem to love the sport as much...
