yes, the bottom of the lame must come to the hip bones.
That's it, I'm done with the discussion forums on F.net. It's had its uses, but the ideologues, ranters, and "experts" have drowned too many of the conversations. I'm changing my password to something random and never logging in again.

No, there are no rules. That's why I only wear a 1x1 square of lame material on my back to hook the alligator clamp on to. Oh, by the way, I fence sabre and am not left handed, so yeah.

For foil lames (quoted from USFA rulebook):

"The conductive jacket must be so made that when it is laid flat there
is a straight line between the point of junction of the lines of the
groin and the two points corresponding to the tops of the hip bones
    (ilium)."

    For sabre lames:

"The fencer must wear, over his jacket, a conductive over-jacket, the
conductive surface of which must cover entirely and without
omission the valid surface of the body above a horizontal line which,
when the fencer is on guard, joins, round the fencer’s trunk, the
upper points of the creases formed by the thighs."

Try this test on your own stuff and see if it passes. If it doesn't, you're cheating.
"What, really? I thought that song was just about a dragon who lived by the sea and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee."

No as a matter of fact I don't, but why would I need a horse? I fail to see the logical connection between foil being a training tool and a sabre fencer having a horse.

Oh, because a donkey just doesn't cut it any more.

That's a nonsensical approach. You made no attempt to make a logical connection between the two items discussed previously.

Fascinating, I answered the question, yet the thread lives on in the form of inane chatter. Now why doesn't Gav close down THIS thread, as it's no longer related to fencing and in the fencing discussion forum?
