Dems blindside Repubs and close session.

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/washing...e-closed_x.htm

After over a year and a half of broken promises concerning the initiation of phase II by the Intelligence Committee, Senate Democrats invoked a rare closed session. After calling the closed session a 'hijacking' by the Democrats, the Republicans acquiesced to appoint a 6 member bi-partisan task-force n to look into rather or not the second phase, intended to provide information on the botched intelligence that was used to justify a war that has cost American taxpayers over $200,000,000,000 dollars, 2,000 servicemen, and tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians lives, has actually made any progress.

The six member tax force, 3 Democrats and 3 Republicans is to report their finding to their respective caucuses by November 14.

Hmmmm...methinks the Dems have tasted blood and it has helped them grow a set of nads.

I couldn't stop laughing at Bill Frist's reaction to the calling of a closed session. He said, "They[Democrats] have no scruples, morales, etc whine, whine, bohoo they finally figured out how to use senate rule."

Wow. Frist is really frothing at the mouth. I almost wish I had tv so I could watch him spit his words out with an indignant tone as he lectures the Nation on civility and etiquette.

"This is an affront to me personally," said Frist, a Tennessee Republican. "This is an affront to our leadership. It is an affront to the United States of America, and it is wrong."

Frist reacted like a political novice. When you're taken by surprise like this, the worst thing you can do is to complain how you were taken by surprise! It makes you look whiny, vulnerable, and a poor planner -- while at the same time making the opposition look smart and victorious. Why would anyone do that to themselves and their party, especially over something so comparatively unremarkable?

All he had to do was shrug his shoulders, say "okay, we're operating under Rule 21 now, let's get to it" and it would have been the bottom story of the day.

Really? It was a brilliant stroke utilizing the rules of the Senate. Seems to me it was the repubs whining because they got trumped.

    Ahahahaha! "Brilliant"..."grown a set of nads"....ahahaha!

Seriously, this is just a well-known tactic on both sides of the political aisle: if you don't like the news, make some of your own to replace it in the spotlight.

The Dems were glad to see the news about the Libby indictment. Reps weren't, so Bush made the Alito nomination, which stole the media's focus. Dems stole it back again. An old, old game. "Brillaint"? Please. When you're in the minority, all you've got is technical trickery. I'll bet there are legions of staffers poring over Senate rules...

Brilliant in that it achieved the goals, sent the Repubs scrambling, and had Frist on the Right-controlled media whining like somebody kicked his puppy.
    Overall, brilliantly executed.
