FIE Mask mesh vs. standard mesh

Does the FIE homologated mask mean the mesh is up to a certain standard, or does it only have to do with the bib? I.e. should the masks from 1 manufacturer have a stronger mesh on the FIE vs. the standard mask?

I know that the mesh can resist atleast 1600 N and the bib is 800 N. The FIE mesh is like stainless steel or something because it doesn't rust. I would never fence without an FIE mask.

The mesh on an FIE mask must withstand 25kg compared to the 12kg requirement on a non-FIE mask.

In addition, the mesh weave is double-crimped, meaning much less chance that the weave will be deformed.

    The bib is 1600N.

In all other respects (design, manner of use, general construction) there are no real differances.

Yes, the mesh of FIE masks has to meet the standards in Appendix A.2 of the rules, whereas non-FIE masks will not generally be made to those standards. For example, FIE homologation requires that the mesh be stainless steel, which isn't the case for most non-FIE masks.

I know my LP FIE mask has stainless steel mesh, and according to their site, even their club-level masks are stainless steel. Does anyone by chance know if the Uhlmann F/E coaching mask is stainless steel mesh (from Absolute, product 71017)?
