    F-Net Strata

The regular denizens of these discussion forums seem to fall into a few well-defined groups.

There's an elite of highly-regarded sages,
An upper realm of knowledgeable and skilled debaters,
    A fun-loving, playful set,
An "average" group of decent folks who aren't otherwise easily categorized,
    Shrill partisans,
    Offensive or annoying trolls,
    Enthusiastic if sometimes annoying youths,
    and Wannabes,
    among other types.

So do us a favor, and sort the regulars into their respective groups. Try not to include the same person in more than a couple groups.

How about those that fit well into more than one group?

Actually, most everyone fits into one group.

Except me, I'm pretty sure I know where I'm going...that's okay, you can't get enthusiasm without half an orgasm.

    Alan, Slim, Amadeus- Shrill partisans

    Biggs- Enthusiastic youth, but annoying

Inq- Fun loving, playful (though if he wanted to, could debate at a pretty high level)

    Cfaustus- Wannabe

Fencing Jesus- Playful, almost perfect comic relief to any subject

Achilleus- Maybe sage, maybe skilled debator, I really don't know

    Allen Evans- Sage

FOTL- Knowledgable (don't quote me on that, Dote. I never said you weren't a dumb*ss, just that you're knowledgable)

Have At You- Skilled debator (in politics at least)

I'll think of some more tomorrow.

Has Dote been talking to you?

That's the first time you've said something positive about yourself. I'm truly amazed. You're usually saying, "yeah, I suck" which is what makes you annoying in the first place.

    awwwww...

I'm actually very positive about myself in general. But I've gotten flack in the past for being positive about my fencing knowledge or abilities, so I figure that it can't hurt to preface every fencing post with "in my experience" or some such.

Plus, self-depricating humor is always funny.

    I have a few comments:
    1. Some people can seem like they belong in either group #2 or #5, depending on one´s own perspective
    2. In order to know whether someone is a troll or just honestly protraying his own annoying self, one has to know a bit about that person IRL.
    3. Some people can in different posts fit into many different categories. I, for one, would probably be classified as all of the categories except maybe #1 and #6 by other people.

Every time I log in to F-Net it tells me that there are over a hundred people currently viewing threads. So there has to be a very large group that makes up the majority of F-Net denizens. Should we call it the "mostly-silent majority"?

If you've looked more specifically at that number, there are usually only about 50 of those people who are actually members. Even fewer who post regularly. Like right now, there are 346 online, but only 54 members.

Definitely have to put DFP in the "enthusiastic but annoying youth" category.

I'm probably on that middle group of nobodies, or maybe the playful people.

At best this thread will only result in people displaying their own ignorance.

So, once we are in our groups, would you like us to line up by height, weight, age, years of fencing experience, by weapon of choice, or some other combination of criteria?

(I guess we all know what group I fall into now, don't we )

Fun loving: That really hurt, cornflower, Fencergal33

I'm too bored to do the rest.

I myself am a part of that mostly-silent majority, and still prefer to be seem that way. An overseas reputation as annoying can't be viewed in high regard...

Anyway, just my two cents: no matter who is discussing, Fnet discussions are way much more interesting than the job I got to do. Now, for example.
