Thanks and the same to you. Are you in costume at work today? Mine will be rain coat, rain pants and rain hat. The Oregon coast has one rain storm per winter...from late October to April.
And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust?

Thank god you mentioned pants. I was starting to think of you as a flasher.

Halloween is by far my favorite holiday. Usually I go all out, decorating, dressing up, carving pumpkin after pumpkin, spooking the neighborhood... Not too much this year - too busy. But I will at least dress up!

Anyone have any interesting costumes to wear this year? (Somehow, I'm almost glad fencergrrl isn't here to answer that... )

Yes I am. I wore the same costume to a Halloween shin dig at a local pub on Saturday night. Here's a pic of me with my girlfriend.

Yeah. I love Halloween too, but it's not a holiday (literally) . It should be though!

Halloween is definitely my favorite "holiday". (Although I think it only counts as a holiday if I don't have to go to work!)

Last year, I had a massive Halloween party at my house, but this year, I was at a tournament all wekend, and couldn't do it! Next year, it will definitely be revived.

I'm volunteering at the fire department tonight, dressed as a fencer. They get local businesses to sit at tables in the fire hall. We get free advertising, and the kids get a safe trick or treat.

Bryn Mawr celebrates Halloween early- I dressed up as Angry. No pic of that is going up because it's probably inappropriate. Halloween does rock, it's true, but I miss being able to trick or treat. Little kids are a lot more fun to be around than drunk college students (everyone and their brother comes here for halloween- guys get excited about the whole drunk women's college thing- we get guys from Harvard and Colombia and wherever. They're annoying).

On saturday I won myself a $200 bar tab in a costume contest at my local pub. I dressed as a Kabuki actor though most people thought I was some sort of Glam Rocker. Either way free beer for the next few weeks.

I didn't win anything at the local pubs costume contest.

The winners were a guy in a shark costume

3 people dresses as Shaggy, Fred, and Daphne

A girl dressed as Rainbow Bright

I would have made it in the top three if it werent for those meddling kids.

This thread is too cheerful by half.

I thought I was going to be working tonight, so I bought no candy. At the eleventh hour, voila, I'm on the day shift today. So now I have to go spend money, on the off chance that any trick-or-treaters will even show up this evening. ( Which they almost never do. Then I have to eat the stuff myself. )

There. I have discharged my curmudgeonly duties.
