    American Politics - in General

Why are there no Italian leaders? We are under represented in American Politics. I would like to see more Italian congressmen, senators and right now, Supreme Court.

    Let's go Itlay!!!!

Vendi Vedi Vici - When you stop to consider that we Romans founded the Republic, the Senate and so forth, it's time to reconsider the selection process for Supreme Court, as well as other forums.

You mean like George Pataki or Rudy Guiliani, two of the GOP 08 presidential hopefuls?

Or Jon Corzine, currently leading in the race for NJ governor with a week to go before the election?

I could go on and name various members of the US House of Representatives or Senate.

Not to mention Antonin Scalia, already on the SC.

Guess I just don't get where you're going with this....

Friends Romans Lend Me Your Ears!!!

It's not enough. We are completely underrepresented. I want more Italians, more Italians, More Italians, we know the most. Pataki is good, I like Cuomo [Hamlet on the Hudson - he should have run and he would have won].

Here's the deal, west of the Mississippi river, there's hardly any Italy. We really need you to move out west- fan out- to the west, and midwest and just get those milk-toasty midwesterners out of there. Italians are soooooo much more socialable. We break more bread together more than any other group. The Italian Wedding has more meaning than any old mean spirited New England chapel stiff as a board wedding could ever have.

I may even know more, from Pompeii, the oldest city in the world, and Rome which is my mothers name, I know the most about how to run things. Give me something, a small utility, a little town. We don't do pilgram self made man thing. It's all about spas. Spas and salted ham and cheese to wash it down with a little vino. The American Mid-west has become soooooo milk-toasty, and so bland, I can't stand it.

Umbrella, I have no clue what you are talking about. Italians are everwhere in government. They are in Congress, Courts(Supreme et. al), governorships and several other positions.

P.S. I am pretty sure Baghdad and some other cities in China are much older than Pompeii.

    And with almost perfect timing!

Bush looks set to nominate an Italian American (Samuel A. Alito) for the Supreme Court. That would, if it goes through, make 2 of the most powerful judges in the world Italian American.

Anyway- this is going to be a fight for Bush, but one I think he will win.
