507 sexes Hi!
That is part of life, if one is a living being of the clade Myxomycetes. I read about them in a paper recently. Among other characteristics, they:
1. Are unicellular, but can be seen by the naked eye
2. Can move and eat, but are not animals
3. Can navigate a maze, but do not have a brain
4. Exist in 507 sexes, but only need two to reproduce
5. Have many cell cores, but only one cell
Wow! Can it be more strange than that? Seems like the content of a bad 50ies horror movie, or the dreams after having consumed mind-altering substances. Imagine the sight of a clump of snot moving around on a dead leaf. Oh, their english name is slime molds.
Now go and enjoy your meal!
Have a nice time!

Array Hmm... Would be nice to have some. With some Sudan-III substance I could separate the proteins, lipids with another substance... Hell, it'd be fun to analyze their biochemical structure. ***Nusy***

Array That fungi reminds me of a Chaos Amobea. They have all the charecteristics of what you said, except they only have one sex and dont have that much of a define cell core. A vulture boards an airplane, carrying two dead raccoons. The stewardess looks at him and says, "I'm sorry, sir, only one carrion allowed per passenger." -

Array 1. 'Chaos Amoeba' would be an excellent name for a band.
2. What would their love songs be like? And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust?

Hi! Originally Posted by parrythis But can you imagine the fun you would have trying to mate with all 506 of your sexual counterparts? Well, it gets better. Each individual can only mate with 208 or the other sexes.
Just imagine the clubbing scene if humans were like that!
Have a nice time!

Array I'm wondering if everyone fits everyone else, or you have to go around looking for a lock to fit your key. And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust?

Array It sounds an awful lot like playing a game of "Tetris" -

Array Only more fun than Tetris. And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust?

Array I dunno - I used to have a LOT of fun playing Tetris... I didn't get out much then.
I'm suddenly reminded of Plato's Symposium, where each person is out looking for the other half that makes him whole, regardless of what sex that person is. But I digress. -

Multiply that times the number of positions they can do it in... (I hear they're pretty flexible!)... and the number of combinations is staggering! One test is worth a thousand opinions.
