    misunderstood my superblue blade question.

These are new blades!!!! Never wired!!!!
I heard that because of the blue finish of the blade, the glue will not adhere to the metal.

SO do you have to scrape the groove to give the glue a surface to adhere on to??

I hope that i made my question clear enough this time.

I do. I give them a going over with my dremel, like I said. My experience has been it is better that way when using to part epoxy. Other glues may be different.

    Don't know, haven't used 'em.

And the problem I have had may be specific to the glue I use, so others may be fine unscraped.

I scrape w/ a screwdriver or dremel out all my blades. In my expereince with all new blades, including many new blades for our club, all of them are dirty in the groove(especially Triplette). I would scrape regardless. To see if the blue is a finish or part of the metal you could take some sandpaper to the very base(inconpicious?) of the blade. Acetone cleans well as well if the blue is integral.

One of the guys uses the blues and also epee's that shine iridescently (dunno what thery're called) he doesn't bother scraping them and he's never had any problems.

Horses for different courses I suspect.
