Array Hello from Linköping, Sweden! Hi there!
I recently discovered this forum and finally decided to register.
I fence all three weapons, allthough I prefer sabre and foil.
I´m a fencing instructor (since 1999), and foil is my speciality.
At present I have ca 45 students, most of them are kids or teenagers. Teaching others is something that I really enjoy, in fact, I allmost enjoy it more than I like to fence myself!
Anyway, this forum seems to be a good place to waste some of my precious time!

Should I be concerned this greeting included a non-American using the word "C4"? I'm raising my own personal terrer alert. Going to Orange Take your time. Read carefully. -

Hi! Originally Posted by Mr Epee Should I be concerned this greeting included a non-American using the word "C4"? I'm raising my own personal terrer alert. Going to Orange Not really. In this context, "C4 FK" means C4 Fencing Club. The "C4" is the short form of the Danish King Christian IV, who founded the town that I live in, Kristianstad. Under his reign, a bunch of other towns were founded in what was then Denmark - Kristiansand in Norway, Kristianopel in Blekinge district of Sweden, and several Kristian-whatever in present-day Denmark
The Kristianstad County has the Royal emblem on its heraldic flag, (see their website here http://www.kristianstad.se/) and many sports clubs here have C4 in their names. Examples include the local clubs for fencing, squash, american football, archery, boxing, etc. The american football club is called "C4 Lions", their website is here: http://www.c4lions.com/.
When Christian IV founded the town he spent over 10% of the crown´s assets to fortify it, but the Swedes took it anyway after 30 years. 20 of those years had been spent building and fortifying the place, placing a great burden on the danish people.
A few years ago - after 9/11 - there was a joint NATO military training operation which was held in Kristiansand, Norway. The Italian soldiers which were to take part in that training were instead flown by the Italian air force to the Kristianstad airport here, several hundred km´s away and in another country. So, suddenly, a Italian war plane landed here and soldiers with machine guns started getting out. They soon realized the error of their ways. The whole thing led to a sharp diplomatic notice from our to the Italian govt.
Imagine if a Brazilian army detachment had done the same mistake and landed in USA rather than in Canada!
Have a nice time!

The Swedish are the Teutonic version of the Pollocks. The last time I made out with a Sweish chic and blew in her ear she thanked me for the refill. -

Back off RL! Only Finnish, Danish and Norwegians can mock Swedish, for we have earned that right! "...assess, analyze, adjust..." a desperate chant in 1 to 14 situation in quarterfinals -
