| Cornflower Does Da Leafs (Toronto) "Da Leafs"? OK now I've really done it, that was a horrible joke.
I'm going to be in Toronto sometime in the not-so-distant future (within the next 7-8 months). So people from Toronto, tell me what the fencing is like there?

| I am unsure, but I know of several decent tournaments (and one or two clubs) in Vermont and New York... |

| It occurs to me now that I can just check your profile to find out what you fence, and learn that it is epee.
The answer is: Toronto is a good place to be for women's epee.
The Toronto Fencing Club boasts the strongest group of women's epeeists in the country, and there's no shortage of clubs in the Toronto area: http://www.fencing.on.ca/directory/toronto.html ... there are approximately a dozen events every year within a couple hours drive, though a good number of those are C-and-unders.
Just check out the rankings section of the CFF website -- http://www.fencing.ca/ -- and you'll see the top of the WE points lists and the classifications list crammed with TFC members. http://www.fencing.on.ca/ is a good resource to find local clubs and competitions. |

| Yup -- I agree with Kalivor. Go to TFC -- they have some damned good epeeists in that club. I think Igor Tikhomirov fences there. The only thing is that, if I'm not mistaken, the epee section of the club fences out in Scarborough so you might need a car to get there. (This, at least, is what a member told me) |

| I am informed that you would be better off doing da buds than da leafs.
Canada seems to have acquired something of a reputation for it. |

| For Epee it's definitely TFC. Metro Blades has a decent core group of foilists that also do a decent amount of training in footwork and conditioning. For Sabre the best bet is Beaches which is no longer actually locating in "The Beaches" but closer to North York.
The three Universities also have clubs, U of Toronto is downtown, and if you can't make it out to TFC, I'd suggest it as an alternative to TFC. I'm not sure what the quality of their epeeists are these days, but I don't know how good you are either, so uh, yeah. TFC if you can manage it, U of T as a second choice. |
