| Buying fencing merchandise at tournaments Hello folks, my club is organizing a tournament and we're planning to set up a merchandise booth to sell things like patches, t-shirts, mugs, etc. as a way to raise some extra cash, everything with a fencing theme (drawings, phrases, whatever). So my question is: do you buy/would buy that kind of stuff at a tournament?
In answering to this poll, consider that you like the products being offered, so please don't post comments like "how can I answer to this poll, it depends on what type of stuff you're selling".
On the other hand, you're more than welcome to suggest things that you would buy. |

| Wacky Whackers. They're little foam sabres sold by triplette. Those things are freaking awesome.

| I only take home merchandise in 3 colors. Gold, silver and bronze. Most serious fencers dont have the extra money to buy non-essential stuff like T-shirts or coffee mugs.

or poor or serious fencers that require clothing, and feel that they might as well buy it at a fencing tournament. |

| For those who would buy a shirt, what would you prefer (assume all options are nice designs, colors, etc, and same price)?
1- A shirt with a "cool" fencing pattern, but unrelated to the tournament
2- A shirt with a pattern related to the tournament, like the symbol of the tournament and the year
3- A shirt with the logo of the club hosting the tournament |

| I'd go with a combination of options 1 and 2. If you can find it online, look at the shirts from duel in the desert last year. Very whimsical. It doesn't try to be bad ***, like some fencing tshirts do (and generally fail at.) I've gotten compliments on mine from fencers and non fencers alike.

| What I usually buy nowadays is gear, rather than decorative / souvenir type stuff, but I'd be willing to do so if it was neat and I felt it was going to a good cause. So, indicating that it supports your club/team would motivate me more to buy something.
I really have plenty of t-shirts now, so I'd be a bit selective. I'd like something with a neat fencing image and some indication of the tournament & date. (I didn't buy a Summer Nationals t-shirt this year because it was just plain ugly.) I'd probably prefer not to have it with the hosting club, unless I was a member of that club.
Oh, and for me, the absolute requirement is that it's offered in my size: small! Actually, that's one of the nice things about fencing t-shirts: they always seem to be offered in normal sizes (unlike the tendency everywhere else to have sizes start with large and just get bigger from there!). I like my t-shirts to FIT properly and not be hugely baggy, so size "small" is the ticket.
Mugs and stickers could be cool. Patches, no (I'd only wear one from my own club, not someone else's.) |

| Hi Ordway, I found a couple of pictures of the "Duel in the Desert" shirts, they are really cool, thanks!
Size is always a concern for me too... I'm right between small and medium, so it depends on the brand... |

And as others have already stated; make sure T-shirts are available in more then "one size fits all but Zz..."
The club hosting Swedish Nationals the last two years printed T-shirts for everyone with competiton and year. Only they don't seem to realise that far from everybody wears size Large.
Oh sure, I can wear it but do I want it to look like a sack on my body? No! So regardless of the nice gesture you end up with a T-shirt that you can't use anyway...

| Comp I went to this year was selling sports water bottles and a hand towel, with the water bottle carrying the logo of the comp. It was great value for ten aussie dollars.
