| Omg! Burglars Suck!!! Hey, anyone else out there ever been burglarized?!
Today someone decided to break into my house proceed to destroy several wall hangings, empty every drawer in the house. He (could be a she but for effeciency's sake going to use he) only managed to make off with my dad's jewelry (my dad so completely tries to dress mafioso style), and a few of my dvds. He was clever enough to lock both doors once inside. Not only did he lock the door he used a latch we have on one door that can only be locked from the inside, thereby insuring if anyone enters the house it will be from one specific door.
I first tried to enter through the barred door, and when I realized the other door was locked from the inside, I immediately hustled over to the neighbor's house where I called the police! My father and everyone suspects that I managed to run him off by jiggling the door handle.

| Well more than likely I would have gone for the first weapon I could. Given that I probably know what is laying around my room better than any thief (maybe not the best assumption since the thief is turning things upside down), I would like to believe I could find a good weapon before him. I do know where there's several bat-like weapons around my house.
Of course should a gun enter the picture, I would probably make sure to acquiesce to the guy's demands.

Some nitwit decided to break a window on my car, when a lock on the steering wheel was in plain sight. The car was an old one too, with nothing valuable in it. Cost me some 100$ or so.
I have also had my cellar storage cut open, and the thief stole a fairly good, and unused fishing rod with roll.
Hope your insurance covers as much as possible, and that the burglar gets caught.
Best of luck.

| I feel your pain. [Well, I feel my pain, which is likely to be similar to yours, but anyway...]
I got burgled (english for burglarized!) in my old shared flat a few years ago. They took some items of jewellery of great sentimental (and actual) value. Insurance replaced them but it's not the same. That was in early 2001 and I still snarl at the thought. The cheek of them! In my flat! Grrrrr.

| Never robbed in my house, but I had a coffee shop a few years back that was robbed. Stupid burglars knew exactly what they wanted too. We sold gaming stuff like Magic cards and dice, and about $900 worth of inventory was taken. It's a really violating feeling, but I'm also glad you weren't hurt. |

| Actually this is something that I need to discuss. My house was recently broken into. The police are still investigating the case. I myself think the burglar might be either grasshoper or mrbiggs from here. The reason I say this is because the guy who broke into my house did not steal anything or damage any property. All he did was went straight into my office and sniffed the fabric off my seat. |

| As an addendum, I have a nice, sharp machete/scimitar/sabre hidden next to my bed now. I took an old steel machete we had and ground it down into something now much better for fighting people than bushes. It is thinner across the flat of the blade now, and I ground an edge into the lower 8 inches of the back of the blade. It won't hold it's edge through many cuts, but hey it's there for defense and it's not like if I ever end up using it I'll be fighting off hordes. Also I made sure to keep a sharp point on the end of it, after all I am a foilist .
