| Nellya Fencers' Sabres of the Russian Revolution Just a reminder: Sabres of the Russian Revolution will take place in Atlanta two weeks from now, on November 6th, 2005. To avoid late charges please make sure your registration is sent to us postmarked by/on October 30th.
We have many great fencers coming to fence with us and excellent directors. Bill Becker is coming from Florida to direct, Maestro Burdan will be the another one of the directors, David Jacobson will direct and so will Olympian Nhi Lan Le of Nellya Fencers. The tournament t-shirts are to die (ok, maybe not) for, and we plan to serve some rather gourmet food.
The information on the tournament and registration form can be found at www.nellyafencers.com and www.askfred.net. |

| We have just received the news from our builders that our locker rooms/showers are not going to be ready in time for the competition. We sincerely apologize and promise to do everything in our power to make you comfortable during the tournament. We will also have somthing extra to compensate for the inconvenience....

| I would like to point out that this is AMERICA!!!
And we don't take kindly to this sort of Commie hanky-panky.
Better dead than red.

| Yes, very american, the total lack of knowledge of the world history.
Seriously, how else would you call a tournament that happens on November 6th???? Autumn Pumpkins?
Admit, you just want it to be "Epees of the Russian Revolution". Unfortunately I just don't see all these red fighters storming Winter Palace with epees. Sabre? A little more believable.

| Instead of making the tournament fliers available as PUB files, how about making them available as PDF files? Just a thought you might want to consider...

| Oh, yes, anybody attending our tournament who finds one quirky and, of course, revolution-related detail in the tournament brochure can claim a prize! You may send your find to info@nellyafencers.com. |

I also know more about Russian/Soviet history than you.
November 6, 1861 is date that Jefferson Davis was elected president of the C.S.A... This would make much more sense for a club in Atlanta.
Why don't you call it the Jefferson Davis Tournament???
You could have all the referees dressed in grey coats to go with the required grey pants. You could also have RL serve as a runner for the bout commitee.

Here is just a short list of the events for November 6th: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/November_6
As to Jefferson Davis: the oficial date he was named provisional president of the Confederace was February 18, 1861, not November 6th, not to mention that he attended the United States Military Academy but graduated with very low grades, not much of a sabre fencer most likely.

This was a risky statement, since I was educated in it for about 15 years or should I say I lived it?

You have to admit that it looks a bit strange to have a tournament in super-republican Georgia dedicated to the Bolshevik Revolution.
I can just imagine what some good ol boys will think about that... |

1. I can convert the file for you if you like, just email it to me.
2. Is doing the AskFred thing good enough or do we need to mail in the form?
Thanks, |
