Array Fencing Post Stretch Jacket I recently ordered a new jacket from the fencing post, an upgrade from my cotton jacket, and I waas just wondering if it was normal for there to be just two layers of the stretch material. In my cotton jacket (same vendor, there is a layer of padding between the interior and the exterior of the jacket, most likely cotton. In the stretch jack theres nothing. Is this normal? I'm aware that stretch ones lighter, but this is my first stretch I dont have anything to compare too.
I fence epee, and my coach always commnets on how easily I bruise (I really don't bruise easily) and I should like to keep the comments to a minimum.
Thanks I want to be remembered when I'm dead. I want books written about me. I want songs sung about me. And then, hundreds of years from now, I want episodes of my life to be played out weekly at half past nine by some great heroic actor of the age.

I'm not familiar with the brand of fencing jacket you're referring to, but in general -- I'm thinking of allstar/Uhlmann specifically as these are the only ones I'm familiar with -- the stretch kits (eg. 'Startex' etc.) are a single layer of fabric.
(As opposed to the other kits who has so-called 'stretch' panels and a two-layer fabric.) -

Generally stretch jackets will offer a little less padding than their non-stretch counterparts. It's perfectly normal. -

Array AV,
I am familiar with the jacket you ordered, and recommend it for student use.
The material is fairly light, but it does provide sufficient protection. Remember: You are required to wear your chest protector, and your plastron while fencing. Take your time. Read carefully. -

Array Thank you so much to everyone who posted. It was actually my friend who first noticed how thin it was, and wanted me to check it out. But on the upside, I'll be much cooler while fencing I want to be remembered when I'm dead. I want books written about me. I want songs sung about me. And then, hundreds of years from now, I want episodes of my life to be played out weekly at half past nine by some great heroic actor of the age.
