USFA Black Star Saber Coaching Clinic

The USFA National Coaching Development Program is hosting another Advanced Coaching Workshop, this time with National Saber Coach Vladamir Nazlymov at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center Thursday, October 11th through Sunday, October 14th. It will be a hands-on workshop in the gym with some lecture intervals.

It would really be nice if these things were planned out a year ahead of time and scheduled into the season accordingly so that we, the local fencers and coaches, can plan accordingly.

I'm sure some coaches would want to go, but many are readying for either the Regional Youth Circuits or just returning from the NAC A, or have other plans.

Coaching clinics and refereeing seminars should be scheduled nationwide for the same time, so that everyone will know when they are.

I can't imagine anyone not agreeing that increased planning would mean more national involvement. There are just so many factors that are involved when scheduling anything at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The OTC is used because it makes these clinics financially possible, and for most is a reasonable area of the country to get to. As with Coaches College the main problem is confirming the space - even if a request was submitted months ahead of time, not to mention coordinating the availability of the teaching staff.
