What weapon do you fence?

| Um... what are you frustrated about? I couldn't understand that part of your post. Try out different weapons a few times, and get a feel for them. You may like epee or saber better then foil, or you may prefer foil overall. Doesn't really matter as long as you have fun with it. And Welcome.

| hiya and welcome iam new to this fencing forum too
I have bin fencin 4 about 1 year so we r fairly similar. i did foil up till september but now i have moved on 2 sabre .
If i were you i would do running to build your stamina up . i would also do footwork at home ( there is a really good section on footwork in the training section of this website) . i would also try and do some leg stretches to increase your flexibility and prevent injury .
good luck

| Stamina, eh? Here's what I do to improve on mine. At club meetings, I pick the person with the best stamina, ask them for a bout, and try to outlast them. Everytime I feel my foil/sabre start to waver, I halt for a bit, take a deep breath, and get back to it. When I feel like I"ve had enough, I tell myself to wait just three more touches, and repeat as neccesary. I don't reccomend this for everyone, but its worked for me.

Also watch what you eat. If you consume a soda or other high sugar drink or food before you fence, you'll find that it gives you a short boost initially but you'll end up tanking after a while. It's just the way the human body is constructed.

| Hey, I drink cola at fencing tournaments, instead of water. I always suspected that I was superhuman. I guess this settles it! |

Probably means I should get up earlier and have some breakfast. Though along with soda for that initial boost, I would reccomend some fruit. I find that a few slices of melon has actually helped keep me energized throughout club meetings. Could help in your case. *shrugs*

Just grab it as you head out the door. Perhaps a banana would help too. *shrugs* A little planning ahead always helps.
