    USOC Grants to USFA 2002

This is a list of grants made to US Fencing Assoc by the USOC.

The USOC contributes roughly 500,000usd/year to US Fencing.

This is obviously not very much when you consider the scope of operations required to develop and maintain elite competitive athletes.

Note that the USOC has recently (as of the past funding cycle) changed how they distribute funds to NGBs. Recently there has been a floor of $250,000 base for each sport with additional monies designated for specific programs and based on international results. The USOC has changed to a different method where nearly everything is based on results and the prospects for obtaining additional results. The USFA did well with this change coming off of Athens (thank you Mariel, Sada, Soren, MST, MFT, and all the rest), but it does mean that we aren't assured of continuing high levels of support unless we continue to produce high levels of results. We got a noticible bump up from the ~$500k mentioned by MrE that we've received in the past few seasons. As usual, the increased money is designated for international purposes.
