Array Staatsburgh Epee Open (NY) Does anyone know anything about this event?
I have it on my calendar as having been on the 8th (this past weekend), but it appears that is is scheduled for the 22nd now. Am I crazy? Was it resheduled?
More importantly, does anyone know anything about the Zivkovic wireless scoring system that they will be using at this event? "All things must pass. All things must fade away." - George Harrison -
Check out the tournaments section of the forum.
(and in short, yes, it was rained out, and postponed to the 22nd. And yes, there will be wireless fencing, but because blades need to be slightly altered to work, not everyone will be fencing wirelessly as I understand it. Plus, there are ALOT of people preregistered.) -

Array The system is pretty cool. The only thing that I don't really like about it is that you have to use their weapons so you're not really used to it. I don't like the grips they use but other than that it's a cool expirience....totally worth it. -

Array There's more info here: http://www.geocities.com/fishkillfen...burghopen.html
The wireless system is still a prototype. We don't know yet if it will be an integral part of the tournament or a demonstration. At the very least, it will give the fencers and manufacturers (there may be 2 different systems) a chance to get together, check it out, offer feedback and just have fun with the new technology.
Staatsburgh has a huge field overlooking the Hudson - perfect for fencing in the round, or even better, without any boundaries.
Weather permitting, of course. -

Array Rain again, now apparently scheduled for october 29. Outdoor fencing, works so well. Similar Threads -
