| Howdy folks Glad to find a place where I can get all my fencing questions answered! I started epee in May and I love it, wish I would have started 20 years ago! It's an unbelievable struggle to get this big (tall), middle-aged, out-of-shape body to respond quickly. Why do my brains suddenly disconnect from my hand when a 15 year old is skewering my at will with the stiffest blade in the place? Ah, the joy of sport. Please tell me there is a riposte in my future somewhere...
Bought my first weapon; a Dinamo electric epee. Stop laughing. The blade took a sharp 30 degree bend on the first solid hit. Now guess what it wants to do every hit? Won't buy another.
Cheers to all and keep your tip up!
P.S. I'm going to stuff a bath mat in my pants if someone pokes me in the crotch one more time... Do they sell pants with the mat already sown in?

| If you want cheap go with BG or Frances Lames epee blades, they work best for me.

| Welcome to the forum, and delighted you enjoy epee. You might want to take your opponent's blade with opposition, or counter-attack to their hand before they can hit you where it's uncomfortable. Good luck with it. The inevitable bruises on your weapon arm and shoulder are called 'epee pox'.

| Brian,
I have been thinking alot about this and I think your right, if I would go for the hand I would beat them to the attack. I can always see it coming, but I'm such a noob I always try to parry then attack to the body (stupid) and I always pull my hand back and try to beat (this person) to the poke (stupid, stupid). I know, more footwork, more lunge drills...
What ever my Maestro commands....!
Cheers!
