    Fencing paper

    Greetings y'all.

I come asking for a little help. I have a paper that I'm writing for a public speaking class that I am in, and I thought that any help I could get would be appreciated. A friend of mine suggested that I try this website for basic information, and lo and behold, I found the message board last night... this morning... somewhere in that area.

Anyway, I'll cut to the chase and tell you my desires... for the paper of course.

The speech I am doing will be directed at non-fencers, I have alot of pretty basic information but I am looking for perhaps some stories, or perhaps some general information that I might have overlooked.

One thing that I am going to add in the paper is about the etiquette/sportsman-like behavior. For instance, this is the only sport I have known where a coach from another team has given me pointers. Another time the guy I was fencing first round DE told me about a weak spot in my six that he kept on exploiting... I think he just got tired of hitting that spot over and over.

Anyway, on a completely different topic, I figured out where my point-control went... when I decided to put down the Russian and pick up a French grip...

My coach likes telling this story about why we have to be careful about pointing the weapons at people.

Two fencers are fencing furiously (as if there's any other way to fence!) and the ref calls halt after an action. They both shout and rip their masks off. The Ref makes the call and one of the fencers incredulously makes a giant parry riposte motion and asks fervently "What about my riposte?" Well as he makes his riposte motion he is looking directly at the Ref and proceeds to bury his point in his opponent's exposed eye!
    Hello.
