Here's a question I just had while reviewing my rep points: what happened to Tireur? Was he eventually just absorbed into the greater conservative amalgam that is currently known as Inq?

I've asked the question myself. He just disappeared awhile ago.

It happens. There was a poster around when I first found this place,
I forget his name, he was a bit like RL, often giving replies to newbie questions that went like "You should give up fencing, you'll never be any good" and so forth. People vanish.

Or maybe they reinvent themselves?

Well, after his trolling days, he started to make political threads and such for about a month.

Interesting discussion (in a sad way).

This is an online community. The fact is that people come and go in any community and so churn is to be expected. There will always be that hardcore group who posts.

This board has now moved into the 'mature' phase with a reasonably constant amount of users. It will remain so until it dies or perhaps it will morph into a completely new form as the Internet moves in innovative ways.

There was a time when I stopped posting here for about 6 months (before I started moderating).

I miss TheOne. For a high school kid he was always so mature and insightful. If I remember correctly (and I could likely not be) wasn't Hillbilly, TheOne's little brother?

The boards are an a form of entertainment and there are a lot of other things to do on the internet and toher forms of media. If you kill off the threads where people get a little crazy and have interesting arguments too soon all the time it becomes less and less fun to read every day and regulars start wandering off and doing other stuff.

They really do, alot. It took me a year to realize that, though.

Which is why I don't post as much as I used to.
