What a Rush!

Ladies and Gentlemen:
I am proud to report that I have just completed my first lesson! What a Rush! I cant wait to get started. We basicly just went over the basics, but it was a blast!
The guy said that I had a great lunge, and an even better paire. (I have no idea how to spell that.) I dont know if that means a lot, but it's a start.
Unfortunatly, I wont be able to start until after the Tennis season is over. That wont be done until the end of this month.
I gotta hand it to you guys you were right. Once you try it you're hooked!
Ne waz just thought you all might like to know.
Master Rosaline

Way to go, Rosaline!

You'll have to let us know how you're progressing. We expect regular updates.

Welcome to the club!

P.S. It's spelled "parry".

Good King how many glasses of brandy have you had? j/k my name (login) would be Iwant2bafencer. You refere to Serana whos name (login) is Foil Girl.
Will do Loch! The second thing I did when I got home was log on and post this. (hehe I think I'm addicted) Parry right. I'll try to remember that.
I do believe thatthis goes along the lines of 'you know you're a fencer when. . .'
Get this. My mom and I went shopping after my lesson, and we were looking at some shirts in a store. Well we were play fighting (Pretending to fight (verbally not with swords.) and she started walking towards me. Well I made a retreat instead of just moving out of the way.
Then when we got home she was pointing at me with a pencil, and I did a parry.
Kind of sad for it being my first day and all. Oh well it's time for me to shut up.
What r u all standin around for?! Let's get back to the story!

Those reflexes come to you fast, don't they? One time when someone reached a hand out toward me, I parried it... And I almost always accidentally call "Halt!!" instead of stop. WOOPSIES... lol, anyways, you're addicted now, you will never turn back, mwa hhahahahahahahaha. okay, I'm done laughing. But have a fun time! My words of wisdom: Footwork helps, and start out slow. the slower you go at the beginning, the faster you'll go later (In terms of bladework and footwork I mean). Fence fence fence!!

Oh, and why thank you Arcon, but, er, I believe that was supposed to be directed towards Rosaline.

I played darts last night. I noticed I automatically adopted a certain stance to throw the darts. Seemed to serve me quite well though (I won), although the bent knees make me even lower to the dart board (i'm an optimistic 5'1 at best).

The beginners class I was going to take will prob not start until a week before I go back to uni. I was hoping to have some small amount of skill before I got back. I am told I am welcome to join in the senior session, not normally allowed until completed beginners course, but this is a little daunting... not sure whether I will go or not. Last week I wimped out and went swimming instead.

Anyway it is excellent you have enjoyed your first lesson. I seemed to spend a lot of mine in a big complaining heap on the floor. (I have improved since then though, thanks to a very good book and the big mirror at the end of the upstairs landing.) We will have to continue exchanging progress/stories.
