[CFML] Re: Chest protectors

You gentlemen make me grateful I no longer pretend to
competitively fence. I can simply decline to fence
with anyone so outrageously forceful that my maestro
would not have permitted them in his salle.

Does this discussion belong in the classical fencing
group? If so, I fear we are betraying our principles
and have beclome another group of sport fencers, but
with dry blades.

Folks,

This discussion is getting off-topic. If you wish to discuss the
details of light vs. heavy hits and chest and other bodily injuries,
please do so via private email.

Re: [CFML] Re: Chest protectors

Nobody hits that hard in MY salle. Not twice, anyway!

I did once challenge a competitor to a fight in the car park during a
competition, but it wasn't over hard hitting - it was about his attitude to
the referee/president (me). He got the point I was trying to make and began
behaving with a little more decorum, but his instructor would have been so
ashamed (I Hope!) of his conduct had he ben present.

He comes from one of the 'top' salles in our region. They do very well in
competition, and I do respect their training methods and technical ability,
but a salle that produces... pardon me.. assholes is far removed from what
fencing should be about.

(and so is a president who offers competitors a fight in the car park - I
know - but I knew there was no chance of acceptance. It was a rhetorical
offer....)
