Just my one cent,
I have fought for years and all my people and the people I fight
against use Schlager Duelling Swords. These swords are much much much
stiffer then any epee, and I have never seen a fractured sternum. I
would agree with the post below that it should be a concern of
control. I do fight full spead, and contact, with point control being
of the upmost importance.
Now the complaint that comes up because a hit causes a bruise is
stupid. We fight full contact with swords, there will be bruises.
Every contact sport has pains, but a fractured sternum?
I am an EMT and the force required to cause this is greater than a
person with a sword should produce in practice.
Just my one cent.
