[CFML] Announcement: Classical Fencing Tournament The Scuola Magistrale di Sacramento will be hosting a classical fencing
tournament on Oct 16th at the Davis Fencing Academy in Davis, CA.
Address:
Davis Fencing Academy
2121 2nd St # C103
Davis, CA
Check in will start at 10am, fencing at 10:30.
Each of the three standard weapons will be fought in pools, with a winner
declared based on indicators. The top four fencers based on their total
indicators for all three weapons will fence a direct elimination round, with
the lowest ranked fencer in any pair selecting the weapon to be used for that
bout.
All bouts will be fenced standard, with a director and four side judges.
The normal standards for weapons and safety gear will be required. Modern
pistol grips will not be allowed.
As much as possible, we will be using the honor system to encourage classical
fencing vs sport fencing. "Form points" will not be used, though some coaching
and advice will be given to fencers having trouble leaving their sport habits
behind ;-)
Everyone will fence everyone else, regardless of skill level or experience.
There will be a $5-10 floor fee to cover rental of the floor space.
We will have dinner at a local restaurant (TBD) afterwards, so please budget
time and money for this into your plans for the day.
Please direct any questions back to the list or to me <ewmyers@yahoo.com> as is
appropriate.
Hope to see you there!
Eric Myers
