Periodicity of training? Periodicity of training?
Hi,
I need some info for my sun has been fencing for 7 years.
We have a 4-year-long-calendar which includes world championship, world cup, official, international and national events(j-s). We also have a weekly training program and a competition-week program. But he usually practice as much as he can I mean same routine for almost two years, as I can remember!.
I wonder how to organize the periodicity of his training according to the importance of the competitions? Or according to the target competitions? Or to plan training cycles?
I also read the thread Practice = Success? and found it very useful but need more info to put it into practice. I tried to find the book(recommended by Picojeff) Planning to win: Designing, recording, and evaluating your fencing training program by Aladar Kogler but cant find.
Any comment will be appreciated.

Intello. Sounds like you are on a good path.
The book you were looking for is a very good resource, but can be extremely difficult to follow exactly. There are many training situations that are beyond the control of the fencer. It is difficult to make sure that you can always get the "right" number of sharp bouts, etc... and then when you add in things like injury the whole thing can fall out of order. American Fencing carries it Take your time. Read carefully. -

Array Sort of the cannonical periodicity training book is Periodization: Theory and Methodology of Training by Tudor Bompa. He also has a number of other books that might be more or less relevant to your needs.

CLEARING THE PATH TO VICTORY and PLANNING TO WIN,
Aladar Kogler, look as a good resource but I think we need a planner/advisor.
