That's the one.

AFS carries them now. You have to ask for them as they are not on the web site. Negrini will sell them directly but it makes more sense time and money wise to get them from AFS.

Isn't it odd that in Epee you can wrap a french grip with leather yet can't put a single bit of tape on a pistol.

Seems to me if you could demonstrate that the ominous "button" couldn't possibly be linked to your A and B lines then it should be legal. ie if no wires from taped area to a,b lines then it should be legal.

I agree that the rule seems kinda stupid on this point, and that it should be made the same for French grips and pistol.

However, it is equally possible to have a grip made that contains some sort of holes drilled at it's base where wires could get into. Then you could have those wires come out anywhere on the grip and the tape would conceal the button without visibly having any wires going out from the taped area.
Granted, that's a lot of work for just the pleasure of cheating.

Now that I think of it it would be possible to do that with a french grip too.

I think the reason why the rule excludes the french grip is that there is always some kind of cover on the french grip, be it rubber, leather, etc. when they come out of the factory.

Yes, Shoe Goo is the brand name. Made by a company called Second Wind. Comes in black or clear ( the latter is really a sort of ugly brownish after it dries, alas ), and there are a number of varieties like Plumbers Goop, Household Goop, etc. I think the latter may be knock-offs.

To Puppet Master -

I'll find out the name and get back to you on Monday. It is definitely a medical product with one of those med-labs names, and is available through pharmacies. Since my son has an ostomy, he buys double - some for himself, some for fencing. I can tell you the down side of it is getting it off. While it is not runny or gooey like other tapes, it is incredibly strong. I've seen my son usually getting another foil fencer to cut it off of him because it is so strong it can not be pulled off.
