    New from Seattle

Just a quick introduction: I'm extremely new to fencing--three weeks. I started classes with my teen-aged daughter, for something the two of us could do together, and I'm the one who got hooked. I'm really looking forward to throwing myself headlong into fencing, whether my daughter joins me or not.

Hey, Holly! Welcome. My teenage daughter unwittingly got me involved after five years (watching tournaments will do that to you), so I am also a recent convert. I look forward to sharing our progress!

    Hi Holly,

Welcome to the forum and to fencing. I hope you enjoy both for many fun years.

I live about four hours south of you, and used to compete in Seattle 6-8 times a year. Great fencing there and very nice people...they'll give you all the encouragement you need.Hopefully you'll also get some inspiration here.

    hi everybody...

i realised that the last time when i wrote to the forum was about 1 month ago. i m a bit happy now...but i donno why. i played in the arcade with one of the games...just to try it.. and suddenly, it showed me a lot of numbers...like 45361739849....or more...and thats my hihscore...but i only shoot about twice, so the computer was wrong. so the person who was the champion before me is still a champion. okey? i m a bit confused about it. ok, i have to go now.
anyway, i hope everyone is okey in the usa...
    best wishes, réka from hungary

Oh sorry, I meant it more in the sense of "another lost soul saved by fencing"!

I'm training with Washington Fencing Academy--Kevin Marr is my coach. It's incredibly convenient, since they offer classes at several community centers and schools close to my house and where I work. I am, however the oldest one in my class :-D

Most of my friends find it hilarious that the one thing my daughter wants to do with her mother involves a weapon...[and I think teenaged girls are 'weirdos' inthe most interesting ways ;-) ] How long have you been fencing? My daughter is a little worried that she started too late to go anywhere with it, especially since she's leaving for college next Fall.

I know pleanty of people who did not start until college of afterwards and they end up kicking butt!!!!! Is she going to a college with fencing?

    WFA too

    Hi Holly,
Welcome to fencing! I too train at Washington Fencing Academy at their Maple Valley location. Are you at one of the Issaquah schools? I've been training with Kevin since April, so not too long myself.

Are you going to watch the Salmon Days Invitational tournament this weekend in Issaquah? There'll be several of us from the different WFA locations competing in both foil and epee...it should be a lot of fun!

Thanks! I realize its way too soon to know if I'm going to be any good at it--but I'm having an amazingly great time. [And I have the rest of my life to learn anyway, right?]

    Hi, Scott--

I'm training at the Covington site right now, but will probably end up at Maple Valley. I wish I could go for the entire tournament--I have to work weekends so I'm not going to be able to go at all Saturday, but I will go for a couple of hours on Sunday.
