Servas from Austria...

Hi!
my name is Lisa and I am new in this forum. I live (more or less immigrated) near Vienna, Austria and love it. Have been fencing for almost 3 years now, and finally found a great club last season. Am an epee fencer, but did dabble a bit in saber, which I do intend to keep up! My saber instructor was Pal Gerevich (look him up.... great teacher and wonderful person) and now I am working on my tournament certification with the ASC in Vienna. (www.asc-fechten.com)

I just signed up and hope to be able to take a closer look at the discussions in the near future. By the way, if anyone you know is in Vienna in October, the Otto Sokopp International Senior Turnier is taking place on 29/30 October, 2005. I'll be starting and hope that I do not completely demotivate my trainer ;-))) while doing so. So guys, gotta go, what else.. training session tonight!!!

Ciao and have a nice day!!
Sers....
Lisa

Hope to keep contact with you guys so have a nice weekend (tomorrow is "Tag des Sports" in Vienna, and all of our great sportstars (okay... soccer is also on the program...) but fencing will also be spotlighted! Christoph Marek (won gold at the universade.. I hope I wrote it correctly) will be honored, along with members of the nation teams. And Fecht Union Moedling will be putting on fencing demostrations twice... also alot of coverage for fencing over here! Hopefully the weather will be as great!

tja... ever heard the saying "the grass is always greener on the other side of the steptic tank".... that was it. My Dad went to teach in Europe (behavioral psychology) near London when we were kids and I loved it. Years later i simply "moved back"... ;-)

That's how you migrate! The Austrian's may appear to be a strange crowd, but one does get used to them! (otherwise I wouldn't be here!!)

And if you guys ever get over here (a really beautiful place to visit!) le tme know because I am a great tour guide!

Ciao Ciao!
(tomorrow i go pick up a few new bruises.... but my sixt is getting better!

Hi Lisa,
hehe... you're maybe one of the nearest to us... I'm Hungarian, from Budapest

BTW - on the Tag des Sports, have you met Severin Stefenelli from FUM? He's a foil fencer (and used to come to our camp).

Hi Nusy!
Actually I don't know the person you mentioned, but a very good friend of mine (began training/competing with Gerd Salbrechter - KAC) a long time (he would kill me for saying that!) fences on Tuesdays with the FUM (Fecht union Moedling for outsiders) to stay in form!

At the moment, there are lots of up and coming "stars", Rene Pranz.. to name one. And when it comes to Foil, everybody over here knows Michael Ludwig... Will ask my friend if he knows the name you mentioned. Pali instructs there Tuesdays too...

Great to know that you are soo near!! Have my first "real" Degen turnier next Saturday, (Wiener Pokal 1. Runde ) and am pretty nervous!! But you know, sometimes you have to fall on your face (in public...), however, as long as you et something out of it... it was worth it!!!

Ciao Ciao! Servas!
Lisa
