Those buzzer thingies

I know they're good for epee practice and as a test box. Any recommendations on which kind to get?

And, on a separate issue, are German and French epee parts interchangeable? I've always used French, thinking about phasing in German...

EpeePete-

No German's and French do not get along well at all.

As for the beepy-buzzy things; I like Zivkovic's. They have an indestructable steel case.

Ditto what Stryder said. I have a set if the Zivco's, and am very happy with them. Almost indestructible, but don't store them together in your bag, because if things shift, and the body cord connects due to bumping into something conductive, it'll drive you batty trying to figure out what that beeping sound is, or where it's coming from. Happened to me with my equipment bag in the back of the car. Turn left, "beeeeeeeeeep" Turn right, "beeeeeeeeep."

I've got two of them (the Favero/Zivkovic ones). As tough as they are, they are not indestructible. Only one of mine beeps loud enough to hear. The other one took a parry for me when I lent one to a clubmate to fence.

He is normally a sabreur. Needless to say, I appreciate the blow the unit took to save my hand from the "épée cut" delivered by my opponent.

It still works, but it just whimpers instead of beeping. LED lights as bright as ever.

I recommend you get the one with the wrist strap. I have a Zikovic and it's great. I ordered the direct plug in model first and after bouting with my coach, it popped off and hit the floor, but kept working.

When I was at the Northeast Vet Sectionals last month, I asked for an exchange to the wrist strap model and Mr. Zikovic was happy to do so!

Shadow,

You can get the épée buzzers with a wrist strap? I couldn't when I bought mine (a litle over a year ago). Great news...

Yup! At Zivkovic.com you can order your choice of a direct connect or wrist strap for epee or foil. Since I don't fence sabre, I didn't look for a "beepy thing" for sabre!
