Looking at the flyer, there is no format information of any kind, at least that I noticed. Sections included are the schedule, entry fees, contact info, "other information" (none of which is format related, mostly it says that the rules will actually be followed... :eyeroll:, plus a bit about availability of showers and that awards are given to the top 8), and driving directions.

*who's tempted to drive 12 hours each way to go play, but realizes that it was a stupid idea doing so last month to Charlotte, which is a couple of hours closer so is fairly certain he won't be in Anderson this weekend*

nice awards again this year, but 12 hours is a rough drive for it, no? |

Awwwww...Brad had a great time, free place to sleep it off, and took a lovely sword home.....
Will you be giving away the really cool Tiger statues like last year? The one in my living room has been pretty lonely. |

Which was enough to get me to open a PDF for an event flyer of an event I was fairly certain was too far away for me to be going to. And then failed to find the information I was looking for. So who knows. The Charlotte trip was a last-minute decision (well, I decided the morning of the night I drove down, so last-day decision, anyway). Quote: |

Still, trying to fence after having been up for longer than a day (and that was at the start of the first of the two events) and having driven all night wasn't fun. Well, the fencing was, but feeling completely drained and like I couldn't think wasn't.

| If I do come down I suspect you would notice without my explicitly mentioning the fact... :)
1360 miles (RT) / 25 mpg * $2.90/gal == $157.76
Yeah, even if I completely discount other costs (time, tolls, entry fee, food, mileage, etc.) that seems a bit too much for a day/weekend of play.
Now the question is whether I spend my Sunday driving to Poughkeepsie for a sabre tournament, fencing foil in Philly, or taking another weekend off of competition. Or, I suppose, driving to NYC for epee, but I know that a weekend off beats that. I know there are open events in VA, but I think that all weapons start at the same time so they probably wouldn't be keen on multi-stripping, so Poughkeepsie would beat that out.

| Just to continue the thread drift, it looks like one of the things I'll be doing this weekend is picking up a bed in upper Westchester County, so combining that with popping up to Poughkeepsie for their tournament is looking more and more likely.

| Mmmm, looks liek the venue for the event has changed from Vassar to FCLI. Not quite as close to where I'm planning to be, but not completely unreasonable.
The idea that an event would be moved a couple of hours drive away and into a different division (3 divisions over) is a bit unusual. Glad I happened to double check times (and caught the venue change) before making any final plans.
Not much of a gain now combining the two trips, and a big hassle of figuring out timing. Might do both trips (the bed and the tournament) this weekend, one on each day.
