Hey, have you ever thought about spilling beer on your trousers makes it look as if you wet yourself.
And vice versa.

| I think it's probably safe to say that NONE of us are in a state to drive right now.......this thread's been going on for a week or two, and we've all been drinking quite a bit. |

| The standards for being a cop must be dropping in New York, because I'm seeing all these extremely obese, or ridiculously skinny people patrolling the streets. I always wonder how they passed basic training.

| I hate it when I forget little stuff like that. Of course, it's nothing compared to that one time I spent half an hour trying to explain to my father that I wanted a flashlight. I had forgotten the word 'flashlight' for a moment.

| Have you ever had a day like that when it's really bad - you can't remember things or people that you knew you knew... I remember sitting at work one day, unable to remember a four digit extension for a colleague at work who I call multiple times per day, worried that I had just had a stroke or something...

| Once in grade 4, I couldn't remember how to spell "of". I made the problem worse by going around and asking "How do you spell of? I know it isn't O-V"... Well as soon as I said that, it messed everyone else up too...

| My grade 4 teacher was one of my favourites... she was ancient, but had a heart of gold. She remembered her family getting their first radio, but she was the computer teacher at the school (hooray, Commodore PET!)

| We collect vintage tube radios. My husband collects early radios (some of the first ever made and early prototypes). I like deco style. Most of the stuff in our house is from the Victorian and Deco period.
Oddly enough... he's the deco collector and I'm the one who collects Victorian & Edwardian pieces.

| Yeah... it's our hobby business. We restore vintage radios (home & auto) and phonographs.
Yup... you're talking to one of the most knowledgable women in Canada when it come to vinatge radios (mainly because it's mostly guys who collect them).

| Do you look for tubes at all? In my younger, "how does this work" days, I, uh... well, let's just say that many old tube radios and TVs helped my self-education. I had about three shoeboxes of tubes, I wonder if they're still kicking around...

| Radio tubes (valves for the Brits) are useful, TV aren't (no one really fixes them). If you find them send me a list of what you have. If they are worth anything, we'll give you fair market value. Some tubes are worth more than others.
Anything the high-end audio guys want are worth a fortune, but they have be new or good used.
The next level are the ones that can be used for old tube amps. Again condition matters.
Next would be early tubes for radios... they usually don't have to be in such good condition, but it depends on the buyer. Envelope/shape matters... balloon style rather than shoulders are always nice and usually worth more.
Then bread & butter radio tubes. Last are TV tubes, we use them as land fill. One guy used them to fill a berm in his yard.
Buying and selling parts (as well as antiques) is a another portion of our business. We buy old radio knobs as well... vintage radio speakers etc...

| Ah. Well, I'll take a look and see if I can find them. You're welcome to them for zero dollars. Sorry, but I can't go much lower than that, I've got a house to pay for.
Interesting new facet of your personality, FG... that's cool!

| Yeah.. I have a broad range of weird and quirky interests and collections. I collect old test equipment too... I don't know why, I just think it looks cool and people keep giving me stuff.
Thanks for the tubes (if you find them) if we do find something that is worth something I will send you money for it. Most likely there won't be... gems are hard to come by. I suspect it'll be a lot of bread & butter and TV tubes. Most boxes of tubes are.... I should know, I'm the proud owner of about 60,000 tubes (lucky me).
If you ever need a radio fixed or need parts etc... let me know.
