Array Is that an abbreviation of "Harlot's Den"? If so I just might HAVE to visit. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

The Stonebridge Estate is particularly nice if you fancy a wander round, especially for white people without bullet-proof vests who don't want to keep hold of their wallets... Louweasel

Array Apparently, "The name Harlesden comes from the Saxon 'Herewulf's Tun' (farmstead). It was a Saxon settlement on well-watered woodland clearing on a hill. The Domesday Book calls it Hervlvestvne and describes it a manor that 'was was in the lordship of the Canons of St.Paul's before 1066 and still is'." Louweasel

I'd say that works for me. Well, that beats me. *Shrugs* My great grandfather once owned the largest tequila bottle collection in his village. That is until the earthquake... -

Array I am serious. In the US we go back to the 1600 in Mass. Then back to 1086 in England. Even found tomb stones in the church with family name on it. -

Array I don't know. Didn't pay to much attention. I'll check with my brother. He goes to England quite a bit, maybe he'll know. The boy walks around in a kilt. -

Array I must look up my late auntie's research into the family history. Noting particularly glamorous afaik - on my dad side (she was my dad's sister) I think they were pretty much a bunch of average types from north wales and hereford, sitting around in muddy fields i expect. Herding sheep.
On my mum's side I have a feeling it was very similar only in north lancashire.
I have an unsubstantiated theory, based on my physical appearance, that there's some viking heritage in there somewhere. They did a lot of raiding the north of england in the middle ages! Or was it the dark ages? About 600AD anyway. Louweasel

Array My family tree is twisted and so filled with false lore, outright lies, and hushed-up scandals that it has taken YEARS to trace it back to about 1860. That's not a whole heck of a lot of history, but boy howdy do we got some good stories out of it! Just because you have the right, that doesn't mean it is right. -

Array Hey, anyone seen Constantine with Keanu Reeves? It was on TV last Saturday, it wasn't too bad, I suppose... Pound for pound, the amoeba is the most vicious animal on earth. Tags for this Thread
