I have wondered about that myself.....
But then, the ones I voted for didn't make the finals.....

    That is the "new" logo.
They changed the text from "USFA" to "USFencing" And they seem to have shown a little more of the invisible sabre than the old logo did.
That addresses one of three things they wanted to change about the old logo.

    1. They wanted the word "fencing" in the logo.
    2. They wanted a sword in the logo.
    3. They wanted to do away with the depiction of an illegal move in the logo.

I'll admit, the logos submitted weren't perfect, but maybe they could keep the contest open until they come up with a logo that is... how can I put this?...Good.

I liked the old AFLA logo.It had it all: two fencers , a shield and the red white and blue. Im an American fencer, why not show America's colors on a fencing logo.

Since they yanked the contest entries and the whole thing sort of silently vanished, I can't post it here, but I got my new card (after 6 weeks) and there is a window sticker that has what is apparently the winner, our friend the illegally flecheing sabreur with a superimposed "USA" with a flag in the "U". Beneath the USA and fencer is "Fencing". I seem to recall this being one of the finalists.

On the other hand, the membership card is just the old logo with "US Fencing" instead of "USFA" beneath it.

The USFA is obviously not a big-budget organization, but sometimes I cringe at the way it operates.

Slightly off-topic, but for a good logo, I like the new FIE logo. Modern, clean, simple.

    Fred-

I think you're describing the old Cadet/Junior team logo.

And yes, the new FIE logo is great, the FFE (French USFA) logo is nice but there is a rooster in it.

Just change the rooster by an eagle and there you go!

Our national animal in France is the rooster, that's why it there. During the last world cup, some dumb people had the great idea to take live roosters, paint them in blue, white and red, and bring them with them in the grandstands...
    • Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)
    • To not recognize the power of the French grip is to be in denial
