My coach have said many inspirational and motivational things to me when I am fencing, whether winning or losing. But this is the one that really made this to myself. In a local competition, I was losing until he said "XXXXXX, I've got nothing more to teach you already. Your level in Foil is already higher than me(He's an epeeist.) I have nothing more to teach you, but I believe that you can do it. You are better than him, go out and show the people what you can do." And true enough, I only let in 2 more points in the 2nd period and won. =)

Though definitely not a one-liner, but I find it a pretty motivational speech. =)

"Nobody is unbeatable in epee, you hear me, nobody"

Said before my first ever bout of epee, after 3 months of beginner foil classes. I stepped onto the piste at our club against a regular nationals attendee and won! It took many many months before I repeated that, but the moment was memorable, and the advice stuck with me.

    Favorite coach motivation

My coach enjoys metaphors. His best:
"Fencing is like a rainbow. Each technique and tactic is its own color. Your fencing....is very brown today."
