Array BFA Modernisation This is really a question for the British fencers on the board. The BFA has entered into a period of public consultation with regards the modernisation of the BFA. Check out:

What do you guys think the BFA should do to modernise itself?
BTW I'm not being paid by the BFA to promote this. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Array For my own part, I believe that the BFA should devolve out responsibility for [specifically] English Fencing to a new body (funnily enough I bet it would be called English Fencing ). English Fencers would then have their own governing body looking after their interests.
This would leave the BFA free to be the governing body for the whole country (the UK). It's efforts could then be directed towards promoting British Fencing abroad/home and act as the liason between the UK as a whole and the FIE. British Fencing would also retain ownership of the team selection for International matches, national tournaments (ie British Championships), and those that are internationally important ('A' Grades and the like).
The 'country' governing bodies - Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish and English - could then focus on the local administration of their fencers, their local tournaments and be free to implement any changes handed down from British Fencing. Fencersin the UK would join their local body and be a member of the BFA by extension. They would [as it is presently] oversee membership of the FIE where requested.
