Array French Fencing Federation's TV ads If you'd like to see some funny ads the French Federation put together to bring more people into the sport, click below, and then on the Quicktime / Windows Player icons, depending on your player. http://www.escrime-ffe.fr/SITE_FFE/c...tion/spots.htm - Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)

Array My post was eaten.
My favorite is the bakery one. Beat attack. Damn if those customers didn't run right out. -

Array Thanks Veeco, those were great! If only the USFA could come up with something along those lines... Just another lost soul saved by the (hit) First Church of EPEE!

Array I don't know what you guys find so amusing or brilliant about them. They're ok, but I'm sure most of you here can come up with better stuff.
What IS brilliant, though, is the idea of having those commercials at all. And the USFA should definitely get on that ball. -

Actually, to be honest, I can't think of any at all. -

. Touch is annulled, because her opponent's loaf broke on the beat and he was denied the opportunity for a parry. -

Array Hahaa funny ads... I don't know if those ads would actually bring more people to the sport tho - they need cooler moves. A synonym is a word you use when you can't spell the word you first thought of. -

Array Wow, ads promoting fencing -- great!
Could some french speaking person translate what she's saying in the ad? I only get the first word "Fencing...blah blah blah something something something..."
(My knowledge in french is extremely limited... ) -

Array I don't see how those French pansy commercials do anything. They suck and they show how stupid the French are. Anyone who thinks these commercials are good is a loser. -

Array I wish I knew what they were saying as well. I get the impression that half of the joke has been somehow missed. A good example of a federation being imaginative in trying to get more people to Fence. Like I keep saying to the folks in the UK - if you don't try you don't get and, don't think that just because Fencing is not promoted on TV in the UK it's not promoted elsewhere. Sometimes I think that the naysayers are infected with some sort of parochial-imagination sucking parasite.

(My knowledge in french is extremely limited... ) The voice says: "Fencing, don't dream about it, do it!"
And then the phrase that shows up on the screen, "L'escrime, arme pour la vie" translates literally to "with fencing you're armed for life" which basically translates to "with fencing you're ready for life". - Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)

Array Saw some of the posters FFE is distrubiting when I went down to register at my local club. Really nice stuff. My first glimpse inside a French club, incidentally. First class. Well lit. Showers! Weights! And cheap! The MdA expected a high level of registrations this year. Not surprising given the pretty classy promotion FFE is up to. Amazing what a little government support can do.
Oh, does anyone know if these spots have actually aired yet? -

Array Great ads. Very funny indeed, its just a shame we don't get those in England. Sure, I have green and black fur and a fluffy tail, but what's more dangerous, your blunt sword or the chance I have rabies and I'm gonna bite ya. Similar Threads -
