Before you trade that parting jab for a parting cross, you should probably consider reading this thread:

http://www.fencing.net/forums/fencin...on/t19468.html

If you want my credentials, I'm volunteering at the DC Armory shelter for the evacuees there. And I'd be down in LA with the Red Cross if my school would let me.

I will take one parting jab though, how much have you donated to the red cross Inq?
Inquartata's personal situation is completely irrelevant to what he's saying. He's not "armchair quarterbacking," he's simply stating how he thinks the government should run. His opinion is not directed at you or the ones you care about, and it's highly theoretical.

If you're having a hard time personally with this tragedy, perhaps political threads about it are a bad idea for the time? It's not that you lack judgement or maturity, or that your argument is invalid, it's just that reading people's opinions that may seem heartless to you won't benefit you in any way.

And if you look at any of the threads not in the Politics section, you'll see that all of us, Inq included, are very concerned about the tragedy in New Orleans, and the people involved.

I can say from intimate personal experience that the big national network reporters who slide into town for the Big Event do, indeed, tend to miss details that local journalists know better. It can be very frustrating.

marge is on a distinguished road
walking in Louisiana

In response to INQ's suggestion that people in NO could have walked to the Interstate to catch a ride with those in cars, I ask have you ever walked in New Orleans in August?
Temperatures are in the mid to high 90s and the humidity is about 80%. If one has children in tow, it may not be possible to physically carry enough water to make the venture safe. Not to mention that on many thoroughfares in our area--there are no sidewalks--because people don't walk outdoors here.

Republican Rep Richard Baker of Baton Rouge

Quote:
http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2005/9/9/101754/8123

Rep. Richard Baker (House Web site) of Baton Rouge is overheard telling lobbyists:

"We finally cleaned up public housing in New Orleans. We couldn't do it, but God did."

"Baker explains later he didn't intend flippancy but has long wanted to improve low-income housing." (Wall Street Journal's Washington Wire, Sept. 9, 2005 [paid sub. only], and now at Raw Story)
Niiiice. He's probably an ardent opponent of abortion. They should take his house using imminent domain and make it a shelter for homeless orphans who lost their parents in the Bush Disaster of 2005.

My guess is the slow federal response to Katrina.

I think we can stipulate that Bush didn't cause the hurricane.

That's not a parting jab. That's a cheap shot. It's no business of yours or anyone's how someone gives their time or money to others.

Do us a favor and drift on back to where you came from.

Right, right. I see now. I guess I had it confused with the "Corrupt and Inept Louisianna/New Orleans Govermment Official's Disaster".

About the hurricane though. I guess you missed the reports on the secret cloud seeding programs. You really think those plane that fly into the eye are just taking readings? They were able to create a super hurricane when they saw it was heading for New Orleans. You see, the neo-cons wanted to cleanse the area, provide contracts for Haliburton and construct a new oil refinery in the French Quarter area. Just you wait, the truth will come out!

That's ok, we can see that you are easily confused.

That's classified information. Please turn yourself in at the nearest CIA Field Office. Otherwise, you can wait to be picked up by a black helicopter.
