| Going to New Orleans
Just wanted to let all you guys and gals out there that i'm going down to new orleans with the national guard to help out. don't know when i'll be back. it's terrible having live there most of my life and now all those places that are near and dear to me are changed or gone. i love that city, i just hope that we can make her shine even brighter than she did. you all take care and i'll let everyone know when i get back. no worries

| Remenber to keep your head and don't hesitate to shot if you have to your live is more imporant. Your there to installed law and order. some of the people had plans to stayed in the city to loot it. The Marines they are bring in are just back from Iraq with orders to shoot to killed if need be. I know this harsh advice to have to killed another human but it a war zone when they are shooting at rescue copters and hicjacking Amb and steal drugs from parameds in there to help. Take care.

Take care. | Most of those people that are in that city stayed because they had no way to get out, not to loot. In any situation there will always be a criminal element. I do agree that the people that were stealing tv's and sneakers should be arrested or shot. However, most of the looting was at grocery stores because they had no food or water left. The shootings or hijackings are not as wide spread as the media would lead you to believe. Yes, a helicopter was shot at, and an ambulance from Acadian Ambulance was broken in to(they stole heart medicine I think) but for the most part people in the city just want to get out and survive.

| The Mormegil, good luck down there. I understand that military personnel are given the brunt of real dirty work. Stay safe, stay healthy.
Army Fencer, circumstances may not let you go to primary site in person but bless you for helping out at the local shelter.
While training and waiting for deployment, I'm monitoring newsfeed from various international sources. Cable tv in NYC area has many ethic channels. It seems other nations' news reporters take less care on what their audience finds out. People being raped and dying in shelters... US soldiers being given orders to shoot to kill anyone engaged in uncivilized activities...
I'm heading down south soon enough to lend a hand and play my part. I'll be mindful and vigilent about health and security of my fellow volunteers while I'm there as well. | |
