These include Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, Lakewood, and other local cities. (I just confirmed there are rooms available in Huntington Beach, about a 15 minute drive away from CSULB).
If you're getting a hotel in Long Beach, you might also check out *where* in Long Beach you're getting a room -- some of the bigger hotels are downtown, about 20 minutes drive away. CSULB is on the eastern side of Long Beach, quite near the 605/405/22 Freeway junction. |

| I was checking Travelocity, and finding every hotel in a 6 mile radius booked on Friday night and several on Saturday night as well. At least, all of the moderately priced ones. That includes the venue hotel, unfortunately.
I suppose I could try the likes of Motel 6, which apparently Travelocity disdains to list. But I'd prefer to avoid that if at all possible. ( Voice of experience speaking. ) |

According to rumor, at the last minute one of them decided to blow it off because he was disconsolate over his SAT score or something. |

I did a quick look on Travelocity and there were a couple which weren't bad, and a step above Motel 6 that were showing available rooms and reasonably close (not as close as Golden Sails, though). The Best Western in Westminster, on Westminster Blvd, for example -- I'd guess 10-15 minutes from the gym at CSULB. (Definitely a 2 start hotel, but fairly close and reasonably priced for the area.) |

| Westminster is, um, scary. At least parts of it. Go for broke and rent a room in the Westin Long Beach, eh? It's only $260 or so. Per night.

| Unfortunately, I am booking for my club and we'll need at least three, maybe four rooms. For two nights. Those prices are right out for college students.
I have stayed at the Best Western in Westminster before. I don't know why it didn't turn up on the Travelocity search this time ( failed to pay their kickbacks? ). I'll give it a try directly. Thanks, Larrison. |
