    Athletes Representatives Candidates at FIE Elections

    From the FIS website this is the list of the candidates for athletes representatives in the FIE. The elections will take place during the World Championships in Leipzig next month.

    MEN'S FOIL: Salvatore Sanzo (ITA), James Beevers (GBR), Brice Guyart (FRA), Alexander Jorgensen (DAN).
    WOMEN'S FOIL: Camille Datoo (GBR), Adeline Wuilleme (FRA)
    MEN'S SABER: Zsolt Nemcsik (HUN), Julien Pillet (FRA), James Williams (GBR)
    WOMEN'S SABER: Sada Jacobson (USA), Beth Davidson (GBR)
    MEN'S EPEE: Fahad Alyami (QATAR), Eriuk Boisse (FRA), Jonhatan Willis (GBR), Paris Alonso Inostroza Budinich(CHILE)

    I'm sorry too that there isn't a representative from each country but when there are only 6 slots its means that some countries are going to be left out.

    I'm sorry too that there isn't a representative from each country but when there are only 6 slots its means that some countries are going to be left out. Hopefully those elected will represent all fencers for the better of the athlete and sport and not for nationalistic reasons.

    Elections to a powerless position. What's to be upset about? It's not as if they or anyone else can impede the Roche steamroller at this point....

    These aren't the reps, AFAIK, these are the candidates. No one else candidated. We'll see who gets elected next.

    How are these candidates chosen? If you are trying to 'grow' the brand of fencing in other countries, it seems ridiculous to have 2 countries represented so heavily while others are ignored completely.

    One suspects that they are chosen according to how closely they support M. Roch's positions.

    I am prepared to have this cynical assumption dispelled, but am not really expecting it.
