Hmmm . . . I don't think you understand the concept of the World Veterans. It's really not the Olympics. We're happy that people are willing to enter and compete on their own representing countries that don't have the funds or the foresight to field a team. Their participation is key to giving the event more credibility.
Besides, we're not talking people who take funds away from the U.S. - Veteran fencers tend to be professionals and support our own fencing. We're the ones who can afford to be crazy enough to blow all the money (and time) it takes, because our parents don't support us any more.
Add to this the fact that while Lisa lives and trains in the US (and raises the level of the Veteran's NACs to her high standard), by choosing to compete for Norway, she opens up one more position on the US team
Your life is not a prize you get at the end of it. But I did get a champagne sabre for my birthday.

Actually, it's not a choice. I don't think she's allowed to fence for the US, because she's not a US citizen.
The down side of fencing for another country is that I don't believe she's allowed to fence in US Nationals.
