| Left or Right Eyed is based on the dominent eye. Since you have 2 eyes, if your brain did not compensate you would be seeing two pictures. What your eye does is use your dominent eye for reference.
To determine your dominate eye hold up a finger and move it so it appears to be in front of a small object blocking that object from view. Close your left eye and see if your finger moves from blocking that object from view. Do the same with the right eye. The eye that remains open when the finger does not move is your dominent eye.

| Hahaa thanks donald...
Just tried that... I'm left eyed...
Is there a relation between being left eyed and left handed, or left eyed and right handed?

As for my feet...I don't know. When I kick a football (there are very rare occassions when I actually do this) I'm just never sure if I should use my left or my right foot. they both feel equally good or bad!
It's the same when I'm using a stick or a golf club; left or right?
I very briefly played field hockey years ago and I could never decide if to chose a rightie or a leftie stick... (For those of you who don't know, field hockey sticks are very designated for lefties or righties.)

| Heyy...if ambidextrous means one can equally use both hands to do stuff...
And the latin root words:
ambi- = both or both sides
dextr- = right
Then that would mean a person can use both "right" hands?
For lefties, since:
ambi- = both
sinistr- = left
For a lefty to be able to use both hands, we would be ambisinistrous??
Hmm!

Considering there have been many who are left-handed, but because of stignatism they were forced to be right-handed. I don't know anyway to change a left-eye to right, unless we talk about what happened in Top Gun and the periscope.

| I'm right handed and do very little with any practical use with my left hand except practice signing my name for fencing paperwork.
Although, I noticed....
There is a very highly disproportionate amount of Left handed people at the highest levels of fencing, look at the entire Women's Sabre national team....
Caity Thompson--Lefty
Mariel Zargunis--Lefty
Becca Ward--Lefty
Sada Jacobson--Lefty
Look at Men's sabre, Ivan Lee, Keeth Smart, Tim Morehouse, or the top finishers from any of the Div I events at the summer nationals and lefty are WAY over represented statisticaly. Why? I don't know...

Maybe I'm not suppose to be right handed!

| Well, not knowing much on the subject, this is pure speculation... but couldn't the dominant eye be changed by strengthening it, the same way lazy eyes are treated?

My strongest eye (slightly) is my right eye, but I am left eye dominant.
See my explanation above, but also let me try and say it a little different. Your brain takes 2 pictures taken from 2 different positions and 2 different angles and interprets them to make one picture. The dominate eye is the eye that is used for positioning. It may not be the clearest picture, but when placing the items in the picture, the angle from the dominant eye is used.
I hope this made it clearer.

| That is a very good question. I guessing early on as if this didn't happen early, then when babies tried to grab something they wouldn't know where it was with 2 pictures.

| I think it would be possible to change the dominant eye, since it is possible to switch to use the view from the non-dominant eye. It would just take a lot of time and continuous effort to look with the other eye. |

| In my family there are 3 leftys. Janet is Adelia and Jennifer who decided at 11 she was a lefty. Counting me I am basicly right handed but can fence left handed and shoot lefty as well has I do right handed. My wife new Dell laptop is setup with all the USB port on the left side. So the mouse is on the left side of the laptop. None of the boys are left handed just three of the females are.

| Using Don's method, it seems that I'm dominant on the left eye.
For hands, I'm pretty much ambi-dextrous.
My primary hand is right. I write with the right. I competed with the right.
On the other hand, I can also write with the left. I can easily use chopsticks with the left. I used to teach and compete with the left (I fenced point weapons much better with the left). I can shoot with either hand (right is faster, left is accurate).
When I'm using my desktop, I have TWO keyboards and TWO mice set up, which I use more or less simultaneously. Left hand covers left half of the "left keyboard" while right hand covers right two-thirds of the "right keyboard." Which mouse I happen to use at any given moment depends on the nature of the task as well as the area of desktop space that is actively being utilized at the moment (spanning 4 screens placed side-by-side plus TV).

| My favorite part about being left handed...
watching the people in front of me at drive up ATM machines (here in the US anyway) who have to unbuckle thier seat belts and sometimes partially open thier car door to use the machine right handed... makes me laugh every time...
things I do lefty:
fence
eat
brush my teeth
archery
eat (fork, spoon and chopsticks)
write
throw a frisbee
things I do right handed:
throw anything other than a frisbee
bat
computer mouse (I can use it lefty as well, but for convienence, will usually use a right handed mouse)
anything not on the above list usually gets used with whichever hand is free...

| I'm right-handed, but I hold a telephone receiver and turn a doorknob with my left.
Now that you mention it, I also use drive-up ATMs and brush my teeth left-handed.
