Array Negrini FIE Foil Mask How are they compared to the Allstar and Uhlmann FIE masks? -
Posting Hound
Array I can only comment on the shape differance...the Uhlmann/Allstar type has a very smooth inverted "U" shape...which the Negrinis look like they chamfered the curve near the corners of the head...
As far as the other attributes, they still have to pass the same requirement...25kg on the mesh, 1600 newton on the bib... -

Array Umm cheaper!!! -
I only know about Sabre masks, but personally I find the Negrini FIE sabre mask to be more comfortable than the Uhlmann/Allstar masks. -

Array I have owned several Negrini FIE masks and have owned Uhlmann also.
I love the Negrini and would purchase again.
An excellent mask. Take your time. Read carefully. -

Array I am planning on purchasing one this year, however, it has almost more to do with price than anything else. I know more people who have purchased Negrinis in lieu of others; I don't know if this because of the cheaper price or not. -
I'm buying Prieur myself, given the excellent pricing BG has on them. -

Array never tried the negrinin FIE mask. my old club had the negrini non FIE mask and they were ok so i'd imagine that the FIE would be even better.
i personally use the prieur FIE mask. perfect fit for my head.. -

EDIT: I didn't in any way account for shipping.

Array Ok...still no response on their overall quality, anyone else? -

Array I Have had a top of range prieur mass for 18 months, masks are well made with wipable liner.
The big problem is the flimsy elastic strap. The velcro gives out after about 12 months & i have had to stitch diver wetsuit neoprene + velcro on to elastics (which are none replacable ) to continue using.
I have took hits to face with epee resulting in slight paint chips but no dents.
I bought direct from prieur in France, would not buy again unless strap issue resolved, Negrini mask has replaceable straps & will buy Negrini if strap breaks, but the way the rules are changing might have to bite the bullet & buy clear perspex -

Array I'm asking about negrini, not prieur, goddamnit. -

Array My prieur mask is starting to come apart after a year or so of use, I might look into the Negrini option, I liked the mask I bought from them a few years ago. -

Array Negrini vs. Uhlmann FIE I actually have one of each, Uhlmann for Competition (fits the color scheme better, and hell, the rest of the equipment was Uhlmann, anyhow), and Negrini for practice. I love the Negrini mask, it gets beat on like a beast (I'm also an assistant coach, so I give ~20 lessons/wk, and am at practice 15-18 hrs./wk + my own bouting). It's super comfy, and still in good shape. I've had it about 4 years, and the liner is fraying, but the mask itself is still safe and comfortable. Hopefully that helps.
