Good vendors in canada

In ontario at least, the only stalls I see at tournements, etc... Belong to Fleche. Although Fleche makes some decent jackets and such, I've been told to stay away from their electrical equipment. Is there anywhere I can buy from that's better (and not ridiculously expensive)?

Is it necessarily more expensive to go to a U.S. vendor? Or, for that matter, a European vendor? If you live in a more southern part of Canada, there are probably some U.S. vendors reasonably close by.

(So if U.S. vendors are an option, if you post what part of Canada you're from, someone should be able to tell you a nearby vendor.)

I live in Buffalo, and fence in Canada often. I get asked this alot.

The answer is mail-order.

Unless you live in the NYC area, or wait for the really big tournaments, this is really the only option (or is it???)

(If I lived in Canada, I would order from PBT Hungary. In the US, you have to go through the US affiliate, and pay majorly marked-up prices. )

Fleche does sell some very crappy Chinese equipment. They also sell Negrini equipment, Schermasport tips, Uhlmann tips (I think), Favero boxes and reels, StM and BF blades. All of which is very good, and tend to come at better prices than their Canadian competitors.

As far as wires and plugs go, I haven't had a chance to try the Negrini stuff -- I'm too happy with Leon Paul to bother -- but given the quality of everything else, I should think that they'd be pretty good.

Just make sure that you know which stuff you're buying.

In addition to this, there's also Ron Millette, who sells a variety of Allstar, Uhlmann, PBT and Leon Paul stuff. He's based in Ottawa, so isn't often around the Toronto area. He tends to show up to the Brock OCC in St. Catherines and to the Provincial Championships, but not much else. Be sure to show up early, as he tends to leave around noon on Sunday. Of course, if you go to a tournament in Montreal, Kingston or Ottawa, he'll most likely be there, too.

Ron's a good guy, and sells good equipment, even if it does sometimes seem a tad overpriced.

There are other Allstar vendors out west, and additional vendors in Quebec, as well. If you can make it down to the CSC in Montreal in a few weeks, you'll probably find them all out.

Tim's List of Fencing Suppliers In Canada

I try and keep my list up to date with contact information for the equipment suppliers in Canada. If I happened to miss someone let me know.

Its amazing how fantastic all these guys are to deal with. For the American viewers....with the low cost of the Canadian $$ you can save a lot of money buy dealing with these guys...hint hint hint.

Allstar Canada
Ronald Millette
Tel: 613-235-2226
allstarottawa@rogers.com
No website yet but I'm told its in the works.

Ron sells Allstar, Uhlmann, Leon Paul, PbT, Favero and several other brands. Higher quality gear with a solid name to it.

Ron usually appears at the major OCCs and Opens in Ontario. And some of the Ottawa centric Quebec competitions. I know he will be at the Queens OCC in October and my competition the Brock OCC in November.

Fencer's Network
Igor Tikhomirov
info@fencersnetwork.com
http://www.fencersnetwork.com/

Igor sells Cartel and StM gear. This is very nice stuff and decently priced. Currently I've only seen the stuff online but its an exceptional value if you signup to be a member (use timstang as a referral code and you'll save money). Delivery is exceptionally fast.

Fleche
Phone: Vlad (416) 318-2370 Peter (647) 272-5438
E-mail vlad@fleche.ca or peter@fleche.ca
http://www.fleche.ca/

Fleche started off selling Chinese and some custom made gear. They have since branched into Negrini and StM and a few other brands. The gear is getting a lot better electrically. The StM stuff is great! Very decent prices.

Fleche tends to be at most of the Ontario based competitions. They are very accommodating and offer a good service.

Based in Calgary - FEofC is one of the oldest Leon Paul resellers in the world and by far the longest running Leon Paul dealer in Canada. They offer a great service and quick delivery. They tend to be seen mostly at Western Canadian events.

Imex sells great quality gear at a decent price. Service is primarily in French and you generally only see them at Quebec competitions
