This is simply not possible.
You will not find a system that can accomplish this feat.
BUT what you can do is maintain the previous system that promoted a good sense of community, and encouragement. The rep system, as it was, did a very good job. I have personally made many friends as a result of our recent rep system, and that type of community bonding certianly helps to keep a sense of civility to heated topics.
I don't think that anyone was ever tricked into taking advice from ReverseLunge because he had 4-5 green dots next to his name. In the same vein, I don't think anyone ever ignored advise from Allen E even though he only had 2-3 green dots next to his name. You must assume that the participants, even non-regular participants, are capable of critical evaluation on their own.
If I wanted make my case on a fencing related topic based on credentials alone, I could probably do so fairly easily. I would replace some of the nonsense that I have in my personal profile with information about competitive results, certifications, degrees, scholastic achievments and things of that nature. BUT as we know, credentiallism is not a very solid objective base.

Again... not realistic.
If people would like to share their credentials there is already a place for that in the Biography... or in the cases of Andrea or MGriffen simply listing their name is sufficient to catch the eye and identify the value and reliability of their input.
Just put it back and everyone will be fine.
